This week, Mr Pham Quang Vinh, Principal of Bac Thang Long Economics & Technical College (BTL) spent some time talking to us about his experience with WUSC Vietnam and the Uniterra programme. BTL is one of our strategic partners with the longest period of cooperation.
After a few years working with WUSC in the Uniterra programme, how would you describe our volunteers?
Responsible, enthusiastic and friendly.
Can you tell us about one volunteer with whom you were the most impressed?
I am now working with Tim Cyr. He’s really smart and also has a good sense of humour. Our work sometimes is quite difficult but Tim knows how to show us a much easier way to approach and solve the problem.
Can you give us a specific example of something that a Uniterra volunteers has done to help BTL improve in a certain area?
Uniterra has helped us a lot. With the support of Uniterra, we got our Brand Guidline, which is highly recognised. We also have specialists participated in training sessions on teaching methodology and building effective curriculum. We have successfully established our Curriculum Development Centre and also able to sell the products to other schools.
Is there anything that you think could be improved about the Uniterra Vietnam program in the future?
I think Uniterra is a great programme and fits in quite well with Vietnam’s status of development. Throughout the three phases, WUSC and Uniterra have developed good understanding about the context of Vietnam, hence applying the most suitable approach as we’ve seen in phase 3. However, in order to reach out directly to the beneficiaries as Youth, Women, it’s essential to connect and get other stakeholders, especially associations and large enterprises involved to effectively solve the job issues.
Thank you for spending your time with us.
